Raising An Item Of Business
If you wish to raise an item in General Business that you wish discussed, the correct way to
do that is to notify the Secretary that you wish to raise an item of business and forward to
him a copy of you motion: eg "I move that the entry price to the Winter Games be increased
to allow the committee to include beer in the package". Notifying the Secretary prior
to the meeting is very important as it gives the committee time do some research on the
proposal or motion. If you don't give prior notice then there is a strong chance that
your motion will be deferred for a year so that the committee can look into it.
Every item of business to be put before the meeting should be done in the correct format of
a motion followed having someone second the motion. Then the person who put the
motion speaks on behalf of the motion followed by anyone who wishes to speak against the
motion. The motion is then voted on by a show of hands. A few people had had
difficulty in the past wording their motion correctly. It should always start, "I
move that

Becoming A Committee Member
If you are interested in becoming a member of the APSF Committee or to participate in the
Race Committee, that actually delivers the games, then you should contact any committee
member to express your interest. We usually advise that any person wishing to become a
committee member should join the Race Committee for a year and see what goes on behind the
scenes. It is definitely not a closed shop but we do not want people with personal
agendas. We currently have a great team that is very focused on delivering the best
product to our members. It is actually bloody hard work and many hours of your
personal time. The race committee is usually very similar to the Federation Committee
but that is the way we have structured it so that we have a forum for induction or training
of new APSF committee members.

Vacancies
